Sponda’s Design Studio makes the design of business premises a concrete experience
Opened in the heart of Helsinki, Design Studio offers Sponda’s customers a new, inspiring place to design their own premises. With the help of experts, customers can test different sustainable materials and visualise what their ideas for premises would look and feel like in reality.
According to Rasmus Vuorinen, Sponda’s Vice President for Leasing, Office & Retail, the concept is centred on the desire to offer more comprehensive services to companies looking for commercial and office premises and to take their practical needs better into account.
‘We wanted to create a place where customers can, without any hurry, explore different surface and interior materials, get a sense of their quality and consider how the choices affect the use and atmosphere of the space,” Vuorinen explains.

The facility is also intended to facilitate customers’ decision-making and to help them make sustainable choices. In recent years, cost pressures related to space choices have increased, while expectations regarding the experiential quality and sustainability of facilities have grown.
Studio brings spatial designs to life and makes decision-making easier.
“Companies are looking for office environments that feel comfortable and homely, but at the same time, the premises must be functional and cost-effective while reflecting the company’s brand and sustainability,” notes Vuorinen.
Design Studio meets this demand by offering companies comprehensive design support, material options that promote the circular economy, and cost-effective partnerships.

Circular economy at the heart of the concept
The comfortably decorated studio offers a wide selection of carefully selected materials. There is a variety of surface materials and fixed furnishings, from floor coverings to kitchens, shelving, lighting and toilet solutions. Properties shared by all the products and materials are high quality, durability and recyclability.
All materials are of high quality and as easy to reuse as possible.
“We strongly advocate for the circular economy and also want to guide our customers towards sustainable solutions. This means that existing construction products are recovered, renovated or reused as efficiently as possible rather than replaced with new ones,” says Vuorinen.

The commitment to sustainability is also reflected in the studio’s own premises, where many imaginatively repurposed recyclable materials have been used. For example, the kitchen and WC fittings, shelves, chairs, conference tables and a large material shelf are made partly or entirely from reused materials.
Targeted assistance from industry experts
At Design Studio, customers do not have to consider solutions alone as a group of experts is on hand to provide assistance. The consultants include Sponda’s own professionals, along with partner interior designers, architects, product designers and other spatial design experts.

“Experts can provide detailed information about the properties and potential uses of the materials. They help customers create cohesive, stylish combinations from the selected elements that meet companies’ needs in terms of quality and visual aspects,” Vuorinen describes.
The studio offers an opportunity to see, test and combine materials in a new way.
The materials have been assembled into a high-quality selection, ranging from carefully considered standard options to more demanding, individually tailored premium solutions. In this way, it is possible to build an entity that suits the customer’s needs, brand and budget.
The smooth progress of a spatial design project is supported by the fact that Sponda orders the selected materials as part of the offered space solution from its partners and suppliers.

“If necessary, we also help customers find interior designers or other collaboration partners n our own networks that are suitable for their needs,” explains Vuorinen.
Free service for Sponda’s customers
According to Vuorinen, the space is primarily intended for Sponda’s customers and companies that are planning a new office in Sponda’s properties. The studio is available to them free of charge, as part of the overall service provided by Sponda.
Although the space also provides a great setting for organising customer events, its actual use focuses on workshop activities with the customer company’s staff, designers and Sponda’s experts.

“The mission of the studio is to help customers brainstorm their dream office. We hope that the studio will create modern office environments that enhance the company’s brand, support staff comfort and well-being, and deliver long-term value through sustainable and environmentally friendly material solutions,” Vuorinen sums up.
