We are open for business – MOW Supernova in Tampere welcomes its first tenants!

MOW Supernova, a newly opened coworking space in Tampere, has been enthusiastically received by businesses. The inspiring interior design solutions and personal service have been highlighted in the early feedback.

Atmosphere, community spirit, a great location and highly functional space. These are the key reasons why Sitomo, a provider of change training and management training, decided to become a member of the new MOW Supernova in Tampere.

“MOW has a look and feel that really matches what we are all about. A lot of our work is done in networks, and this is a convenient location for organising various events,” says Sitomo’s Chief Marketing Officer Riikka Seppälä.

“MOW’s strength lies in genuine presence. Members see us all the time and we are always ready to help, even with the little things,” says Katta Heikkilä, Head of Hub & Community at MOW Supernova.

The machine whirrs and produces a steaming cup of coffee. Seppälä picks up the cup and makes her way to Sitomo’s two-person office space. The glass walls allow you to see people walking by, which is a feature that Seppälä is particularly pleased with.

“MOW provides companies with carefree and flexible workspaces – along with a whole host of new friends.”

“It’s an inspiring environment. There are also plenty of spaces in which we can conduct customer interviews in quiet surroundings,” Seppälä adds.

The training service provider Sitomo became a MOW member due to the hub’s atmosphere and functional space. “We are recruiting new employees, and having easy access to additional space at MOW for new hires to use is a big advantage for us,” says CMO Riikka Seppälä.

MOW provides good service and genuine presence

When you enter the brand new MOW Supernova, the first thing you see is the front desk with Hipu Ylä-Rotiala and Jyrki Heikkilä seated behind it. They receive visitors and help members with their events and IT problems.

There are five meeting rooms, each with its own unique atmosphere that comes from the use of creative interior design solutions.

“The difference between us and similar providers is that we have a genuine presence here. The members see us all the time and we are always ready to help, even with the little things,” says Katta Heikkilä, MOW Supernova’s Head of Hub & Community.

“We make it possible for businesses to have the courage to change their working culture.”

The highlight of the event space downstairs is an old modified camping trailer. It can be used as a workspace and, during events, it serves as a DJ booth or cocktail bar.

The atmosphere is created by carefully thought-out details. The toilet signs are 3D-printed astronauts.

A lot of effort has gone into the smallest details. The toilet signs are 3D-printed astronauts and the shelves in the upstairs lounge are decorated by colourful finger candles.

Supernova also has areas intended for relaxation and recharging.

MOW Supernova’s central location in the Ratina shopping centre complex is also a major factor behind its appeal. The bus station is right next door and the railway station is within walking distance.

If you need to pop out for lunch or visit the supermarket, you can leave your coat behind and simply walk through the shopping centre. And there’s even a fitness centre next door.

Coworking spaces are appealing due to their ease of use

For Jussi Pöyhönen, a Tampere local, MOW was an easy solution. He works for OX2, a company that builds and develops wind power plants. The nearest office is in Helsinki, but his employer gives him the opportunity to work remotely.

MOW offered Tampere-based Jussi Pöyhönen the opportunity to work remotely.

“I’ve got everything I need right here. I can put all of my focus on doing my expert work. The atmosphere is positive and inspiring. I was previously based in a different coworking space but, compared to MOW, it felt like a dentist’s office,” Pöyhönen says.

“Anyone can walk in, buy a day pass and use the workspace.”

In his first week at MOW, Pöyhönen had already set up an appointment with a customer and reserved a meeting room for the purpose. Members enjoy a 50% discount on meeting room fees.

Ease of use is one of the big advantages of the MOW concept. The membership includes everything you might need in your daily work. The space comes with adjustable desks and office chairs, but members can also bring their own items.

“People can be themselves here. You can walk around in wool socks and wait until it’s time for a customer meeting before you put on normal business attire. We’re always eager to hear from our members to come up with new ideas on what additional services we could provide to make their daily life even easier,” Katta Heikkilä says.

Courage and a culture of experimentation

One of the things that makes MOW special is that anyone can walk in, buy a day pass and use the workspace. In addition to a workstation, the price includes coffee, tea, sparkling water and popcorn.

“I see this as a great place to come in for coffee, have a meeting and form teams instead of always planning ahead and setting aside time in your calendar,” says Sitomo’s Riikka Seppälä.

The Leeloo meeting room’s interior design is inspired by Tampere’s ice hockey teams.

The flexible and versatile space is appealing to today’s companies. Members have access to several ad hoc meeting rooms that can be used for quick meetings.

Phone booths provide a quiet environment for conversations and there are also areas intended for relaxation.

“We make it possible for businesses to have the courage to change their working culture. This is a convenient choice for companies that are thinking about alternatives to the traditional office. We want to promote a culture of experimentation,” Katta Heikkilä concludes.

Each room has its own unique ambience.

Members have access to MOW Supernova in Tampere as well as the two MOW hubs in Helsinki. They no longer need to work in cafés when they take a trip down to the capital for a customer meeting.
