Sponda’s newly renovated business property on Arkadiankatu has been awarded a BREEAM certificate
Property investment company Sponda Plc’s business property, located at Arkadiankatu 4-6, has been awarded a BREEAM certification with a rating of “Very Good”. The business property is located by the Narinkkatori market square, in the middle of Helsinki’s busiest commercial area.
The environmental certificate was awarded to the property’s renovated section, which comprises approximately 3,000 square metres. The property’s energy efficiency and comfort was improved by replacing the building services and investing in a new ventilation system. The second phase of the renovation, comprising some 20,000 square metres, will start in 2018.
As of September 2016, Sponda has 12 certified properties and several certification projects in progress. Sponda applies for international environmental classification for all new buildings and major renovation projects. By seeking certification for its properties, Sponda aims to offer its customers high-quality and environmentally friendly business premises.
BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) is an international green building certification system aimed at reducing the environmental impact of the use of buildings as well as the development of healthier working environments.
The BREEAM environmental certificate was granted by BRE (Building Research Establishment Limited) and the auditing and final reporting was conducted by Green Building Partners.
