Sponda to take part in Earth Hour

Sponda is participating in the global Earth Hour event arranged by WWF, held from 8.30 to 9.30 p.m. on Saturday, 28 March.

During the event, participating communities and private persons turn off their lights for one hour in buildings around the world. The purpose of Earth Hour is to activate people to work for the environment.

The lights will go out at eleven Sponda properties

Sponda will participate in the event by turning off the lights at all of its shopping centres in Finland: Citycenter in Helsinki, shopping centre Elo in Ylöjärvi, shopping centre Zeppelin in Oulu and shopping centre Ruoholahti in Helsinki.

In addition to the shopping centres, the following Sponda properties in the Helsinki metropolitan area participate in the event: the Fennia Quarter, Arkadiankatu 4-6, Korkeavuorenkatu 45 and Sponda’s environmental partners’ properties Ruoholahden Sulka, Miestentie 3, Iso Roobertinkatu 21-25 and Tampereen Tulli in Tampere also participates.

• Sponda will now participate in Earth Hour for the sixth time. We want to contribute to averting climate change with our own actions. We consider it’s important to invest resources in developing solutions to promote the well-being of the environment. Environmental requirements are underlined both in Sponda’s property development business and in the management and maintenance of properties, says Sponda’s Senior Vice President for Property Development Veli-Pekka Tanhuanpää.

The global Earth Hour climate event arranged by the WWF will be organised for the ninth time this year. Last year, more than two billion people in 162 countries participated in the event, together with 7,000 cities and numerous companies, communities and educational institutes.
