Sponda to take part in Earth Hour

Sponda to take part in Earth Hour

Sponda is participating in the global Earth Hour event arranged by WWF, which is being held on Saturday 29 March 2014 at 8.30-9.30 p.m.

During the event, participating organisations and individuals will turn off the lights on properties around the world for one hour. Turning off the lights symbolizes a common concern for climate change.

Lights to be turned off at six Sponda properties

Sponda participates in the event by turning off the lights at all of its shopping centres in Finland: Citycenter, shopping centre Elo, shopping centre Zeppelin and shopping centre Ruoholahti.  The Sponda-owned Fennia Quarter and the company’s property at Arkadiankatu 4-6 in Helsinki will also take part.

“The property sector plays a key role in mitigating climate change, which is why we are participating in the Earth Hour event for the sixth time. We want to support efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We continuously develop our services and operations in order to improve the energy efficiency of our properties in partnership with our clients,” says Veli-Pekka Tanhuanpää, Sponda’s Senior Vice President for Property Development.

By participating in the Earth Hour event, Sponda wishes to express its concern for climate change and to stress the importance of efforts to combat climate change.

Challenge your business partners to take part

The global Earth Hour climate event arranged by WWF will be organised for the eight time this year. The campaign’s message is that even small acts are significant when their effect is multiplied by many people getting involved.

Participating in Earth Hour is easy. More information and participation instructions are available at www.wwf.fi/earthhour.
