Office building being built by Sponda in Lassila reaches roof height
Estradi, an office building being built by property investment company Sponda Plc, is nearing completion in Lassila, Helsinki. The office building is located by some of Finland’s busiest road sections – Kehä I ring road and Hämeenlinnanväylä. The principal tenant in the new office building taking shape at Aku Korhosentie 8 will be Kone Hissit Oy. The construction of the approximately 5,700 square metre office building began in June 2014. Today, the site is holding the topping out ceremony.

Our ongoing new building projects in Ilmala and Lassila constitute significant part of the few new building projects currently underway in Helsinki, says Sponda’s President and CEO Kari Inkinen.
Aiming for Platinum LEED® certification
One of Sponda’s strategic focal points is environmental responsibility, which is emphasised in Sponda’s property development operations as well as property maintenance. Energy efficiency and solutions that conserve the environment have been a particular point of emphasis in the design of the Estradi office building. One example of this is the use of renewable energy generated by the solar panels as early as during the construction phase.
Sponda applies for a Platinum LEED® certificate – the highest level of LEED® certification – for the building. The aforementioned international green building certification system aims to reduce the environmental impact of buildings’ construction and use and to develop healthier working environments.
Upon completion, the building will also be part of Sponda’s Energy efficiency programme, the company’s initiative that strives for energy conservation in partnership with its clients. Kone Hissit Oy has also made a commitment to Sponda’s Environmental partnership programme, which aims to reduce, in addition to energy consumption, other environmental loads caused by the property’s use in close co-operation between the lessor and the tenant.
A modern and versatile office building
The design of the office building’s premises accounted for the special requirements of its users. In co-operation with Kone Hissit Oy, Sponda set up a virtual lobby in the office building, which will also allow Sponda to gather experiences with regard to other properties owned by the company. The elevators will be fitted with Kone’s modern destination control system, which shortens an elevator’s waiting and travel times.
Following the topping out, the office building’s construction work will continue with indoor work performed on the floors and roofing work. The building is scheduled for completion on 30 June 2015.
