The Association of Finnish Cities and Municipalities relocates to Fabian 21 in central Helsinki

The Association of Finnish Cities and Municipalities has leased approximately 4,000 square metres of office space in Fabian 21, a Sponda-owned office property located at Fabianinkatu 21 in the heart of Helsinki. Fully refurbished in 2025, the full-service property provides the Association with modern, high-quality premises as well as a wide range of services designed to support everyday work and employee wellbeing.

In selecting its new office premises, the Association placed particular emphasis on Fabian 21’s central location, excellent accessibility, and comprehensive service offering. The organisation will occupy two floors: one dedicated to day-to-day work and the other designed for meetings, collaboration, and events. The solution supports cooperation and spontaneous interaction while providing an excellent environment for both focused and collaborative work.

“Our goal was to find a space that brings together municipalities, cities, and the employees of the Association of Finnish Cities and Municipalities. We sought premises that are adaptable and multifunctional. Equally important was finding a central location in Helsinki CBD, close to Parliament House and the ministries—an objective that this property fulfils exceptionally well,” says Minna Karhunen, CEO of the Association of Finnish Cities and Municipalities.

“We are delighted to provide the Association of Finnish Cities and Municipalities with office premises at Fabian 21 that meet their specific needs and objectives in the heart of Helsinki. We are continuing to see an increasing number of organisations choosing to move to high-quality and more accessible office spaces in prime CBD locations. It is also encouraging to see that the appeal of central Helsinki extends to public-sector organisations, whose presence helps support the vitality of the city centre. Across central Helsinki, we offer a wide range of office solutions that can be tailored flexibly to our customers’ individual requirements,” says Christian Hohenthal, CEO of Sponda.

Fabian 21’s extensive service offering supports smooth and productive working days while promoting employee wellbeing. Occupiers have access to Bank, the property’s event and conference centre, with its extensive meeting and event facilities, as well as high-quality restaurant and catering services, a gym, reception services, and parking facilities.

The 2025 refurbishment of Fabian 21 focused on both user experience and sustainability. The property holds a BREEAM In-Use Excellent environmental certification and provides high-quality indoor air, optimised working conditions, and emission-free energy consumption. Tenants’ sustainability goals are further supported by electricity generated entirely from wind power, a rooftop solar power plant, and excellent public transport connections in Helsinki’s city centre.

The Association of Finnish Cities and Municipalities will relocate to its new premises in the summer of 2027.
