Sponda completes fully-leased office development in Tikkurila
Sponda Ltd, one of Finland’s leading real estate asset management companies, has announced the completion of its 20,000-square-metre office development at Lauri Korpisen katu 9 in Tikkurila, Vantaa. The fully leased building was delivered on schedule in late November 2024 and boasts a prime location near Tikkurila train station, exceptional energy efficiency, and access to outstanding local amenities.
The building was handed over to its three tenants, Valmet, a developer and supplier of process technologies, automation systems and services for the pulp, paper, energy industries; the City of Vantaa’s Urban Environment Department and grocery retailer, Lidl, at the end of November 2024.
Valmet is the building’s largest tenant and plans to relocate 800 employees, primarily from its Järvenpää site and some from Hakkila, into the new office during the first quarter of 2025. The City of Vantaa’s Urban Environment Department has leased approximately 3,800 square meters and will move its 480 employees into the premises from January 2025. Additionally, a Lidl grocery store is scheduled to open on 19 December 2024.
“We are delighted to welcome Valmet and the City of Vantaa, both of whom embrace a forward-thinking approach dedicated to fostering a high-quality, collaborative work environment for their employees and clients, with the addition of Lidl’s new grocery store strengthening the commercial offering of the entire Tikkurila centre and commuter hub. We worked closely with our tenants throughout the project to create flexible, energy-efficient office and retail spaces, that meet their needs and support their business in the best possible way, alongside implementing of the highest standards of environmentally responsible solutions”, says Christian Hohenthal, Sponda’s CEO.
Centrally located, highly sustainable business premises
Situated next to the Dixi shopping centre and Tikkurila train station, the building offers employees a wide range of services, including an onsite restaurant, a large bicycle park with associated staff changing facilities, and a car park equipped with charging points for electric vehicles.
The property has a class A energy performance rating and a target of LEED Platinum environmental certification. Solar panels installed on the roof of the building will help to ensure the property produces renewable energy for onsite use, whilst plants that support biodiversity will be planted in the surrounding yard. An environmentally friendly geothermal system further enhances the building’s energy efficiency, and ensuring high indoor air quality was an important consideration in the building’s design. The development also meets the sustainability requirements outlined in the EU taxonomy.
